Football – Made in Africa

AfriGadget is one of the blogs I just can’t resist and, truly, there is no reason to try. It is a celebration of…well here, I’ll let this team of bloggers speak for themselves: “AfriGadget is a website dedicated to showcasing African ingenuity. A team of bloggers and readers contribute their pictures, videos and stories from around the continent. The stories of innovation are inspiring. It is a testament to Africans bending the little they have to their will, using creativity to overcome life’s challenges.”

Last night Erik posted this video which is one of a series called Made in Africa being produced by a TV/film group out of Belgium. It is a celebration of football in Africa. With the World Cup headed to South African in 2010, it seems that they’re right on time. (I’d also recommend a look at this site if you’re one who likes to see well done micro-sites. It’s lovely.)

(For my readers who are parents of young children, you may want to preview this so you are ready for the “what’s that?” inquiry that will come if you let them watch this story. Then you’ll have to decide if that’s a conversation you’re ready to have. I’ll suggest that if your kids are enrolled in school, it could very well be time.)
