I’ve been in Singapore for less than 48 hours and am already reminded of some of the things I like about modern Asian cities. You won’t be surprised when I say “food” will you? The diversity of foods is rather extraordinary. This diversity is expressed both in types of food using a cultural grid (ie. Indian, Chinese, Mexican, Italian, Indonesian, Japanese, German) as well as using an economic grid. You can find a meal that is delicious and reasonably nutritious for $3 (Singaporean) or for $40 (Singaporean) with a few city blocks.
My first meal in Singapore was at Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe on the 6th floor of a mall which is only a short walk from the YWCA where I’m staying. Delicious.
