Those Places

A decade or so ago I was introduced (first, I think, by Bill Hybles at a Willow Creek Leadership Summit and then through the book titled Sacred Pathways by Gary Thomas) to the idea that we engage God in relationship in many ways (pathways) and are more naturally adept at some of those ways than others. Some feel more natural. Some are intuitive while others are learned. The idea made all sorts of sense to me then and has continued to make sense to me as I’ve lived it and observed it in others.

I’m not going to try to explain this whole deal or list the pathways today. I just…on Friday when I took Libby to Cocoa Beach for the afternoon I was reminded that one of my pathways is the created world — nature. The sand, the sun, the fresh air, the sound of the waves and gulls, the water. All of it, especially in combination, refresh my soul.

What about you? What are the things you do or places you go that reconnect you with God in a way that is almost indescribable?
