Airboat Ride

Lisa and I went on an air boat ride this morning. We spent an hour skimming across the water and vegetation, looking for all matter of wildlife.

We saw a bazillion dragon flies and some birds, and gators. Mostly we saw little gators in the first few years of their lives when they are growing about a foot per year. By the age of 6 or 7, that slows to inches per year at most and the age is less easy to estimate (I paid attention to the boat captain).

This gator is probably 6 or so years old. She was resting on floating vegetation and floating rotting vegetation. Pretty cool. Kinda stinky, too.

So, anyone know the difference between swamp and bog and marshes?
