Total Eclipse of the Heart

I’m of that age where I find myself singing along to a pop song from my pop-song-consuming era — something I’ve not heard or thought about for ages — and I’m amazed that either I never knew the real lyrics but still belted out what I made up or I knew them but obviously didn’t pay attention to what I was singing or I wouldn’t have.

This is one of those songs that I knew, more or less. More less than more more. But my re-hearing it was not the normal experience because I heard it being sung by Christina Bianco who is an impressionist. She sings this as part of her act and someone snagged a video and shared it. It’s rather delightful. I tend to enjoy stuff like this. Maybe you will too.

After you do, could you explain what a total eclipse of the heart is? I got the diagram of an eclipse to see if that might help me see what I’m missing, and I’m still at a loss. Thanks for any assistance you can offer. (No, not assistance in getting a bazillion people to follow my blog or assistance in finding Rx drugs from a Canadian internet supplier or assistance in making money selling whatever it is you’re selling. I’m not asking for that kind of help.)

Maybe my problem is the only lyrics of the song I actually remember are the ones that are in the title…

only because i have nothing else going on today…eclipse…”an obscuring of the light from one celestial body by the passage of another between it and the observer or between it and its source of…:(I believe light/energy, as in ) “an eclipse of the sun” In looking at the lyrics of the song, in particular “Your love is like a shadow on me all of the time (All of the time) I don’t know what to do and I’m always in the dark” my interpretation is that in this case she is in a relationship that is overpowering her, but in not so healthy a manner, as it keeps her in the dark and prevents her from ever seeing anything else, in particular, the light/source/sun. ewww. we really should have paid more attention in the eighties….

    btw, LOVED the video, tho-haha!
