As I step into a new year, I am asking God to do the work in me and then through me that will make this invitation from the Holy Spirit through Paul more true, more consistent in my own living:
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

More rejoicing and less grumbling.
More confidence and hopefulness, knowing God is present and more than enough, and less fear and dread.
More prayer and less…less chasing after a quick kitten fix on YouTube or a unsatisfying rant on Facebook.
More letting peace guard my heart and mind and less putting up my own walls of self-protection.
More time thinking about and talking about and writing about what is good and beautiful and God-glorifying.
