Sonnet 031

In God alone I find release from fear
which thrives in darkened corners of my heart
and eats my flesh — infesting every part
until I’m lost. Until I drown in tears.

When at my end — lost in the depth of me,
my soul cries out in shout of mute despair
beyond all hope — You meet my darkness there
and Your pure light transforms that fear to free.

O holy God, waken my sleep to morn;
restore my soul to grace-filled solitude
where joy and light and peace reside in You
and all I’ll ever be, in You reborn.

Alone in God I am restored to whole.
In God alone is light for this new soul.
